Position Overview

Our Health Care Consultants work on multi-dimensional projects that demand functional knowledge and strong analytical, creative problem solving, and interpersonal skills. Representative projects include developing a corporate strategic plan for an academic medical center, creating an ambulatory operational plan for a hospital clinic, determining the operating room capacity required to deliver a new surgical service, developing a financial feasibility study or advising a hospital on its ability to build a new children’s hospital. 

A Consultant will expect the following job responsibilities:

  • Interact from day 1 at the senior executive level, working to articulate strategic and tactical issues. 
  • Collaborate with the client and the KSA team to develop processes and work plans for addressing issues.
  • Build an understanding of clients’ challenges and possible solutions by performing extensive analyses of marketplace, patient volume, financial, throughput and other data and facilitating problem solving sessions with diverse client groups.  
  • Collaborate with client and KSA staff to develop and present findings and recommendations.
  • Develop and share subject matter expertise regarding relevant industry segments (e.g., facilities planning, strategic planning, financial analysis, physician relations).
  • Contribute to practice advancement (e.g., recruiting, service development and evolution of the body of knowledge.)

With proven skills and dedication, a KSA consultant is constantly provided opportunities for a larger role in the management of projects, guiding other Consultants and working with clients to develop solutions to complicated issues.

 

Candidate Qualifications

  • MHA, MBA or an advanced degree in a related discipline such as industrial engineering.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in a health care setting or other related environment. Experience in finance or strategic management, health care management, facility/operational planning, and information technology can be particularly valuable
  • Distinctive academic performance and leadership experience
  • Energy and passion about serving clients, continual learning, professionalism and personal resilience
  • A desire and willingness to be an owner of the firm in the future
  • Keen problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated quantitative analysis skills
  • Demonstrated verbal and written interpersonal skills as well as facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Literacy with spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. with unlimited work authorization

 

Location and Travel
At this time we have opportunities for consultants in Atlanta, Minneapolis, Philadelphia or San Francisco offices. Travel to client sites averages 30 - 50 percent of business days.
