Health Care Clinical IT Consultant / Manager

(KSA) is a leading management consulting firm specializing in the health care industry.   KSA’s Health Care Consulting group provides management advisory services in Facility Planning, Information Technology, and Strategy to multiple hospital systems, community hospitals and physician group practices.  The practice has more than 50 years experience and has served over 1,200 clients including many of the leading integrated health care organizations, academic medical centers, specialty and community hospitals, physician practices, managed care and non-acute care organizations. 

 

Practice Overview
The IT group works with its clients nationally to identify their current and future information technology needs and then facilitate the planning, selection, and implementation processes to achieve lasting results.  The IT team provides Strategic and Tactical Planning, System Selection and Contract Negotiation, Implementation Oversight/Project Management, Readiness Assessment, Infrastructure Planning and Design, Business Intelligence Planning and Implementation and other consulting services to their clients. 

 

Position Overview
KSA seeks an experienced Clinical IT Consultant that will bring a clinical focus to multi-dimensional projects that demand functional knowledge and strong analytical, creative problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Representative projects include but are not limited to development of an IT strategic plan, facilitation of a vendor selection process for a particular application suite, development of a clinical information management/reporting strategy, readiness assessment for advanced clinical automation, regulatory compliance review, pre-implementation process review and IT planning for new facilities. 

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Work with client and KSA leaders to articulate the strategic and tactical issues requiring attention. Develop processes and work plans for addressing these issues.
  • Participate with project teams through the execution of the work plans by providing direction, facilitating data gathering and problem solving processes, and performing operational, financial and other types of analyses.
  • Collaborate with diverse client and KSA staff to develop and present findings and recommendations.
  • Develop and share subject matter expertise regarding relevant industry segments including, but not limited to, the planning and implementation of IT systems, vendor selection, cultural and process change, project management, clinical informatics and other specialty areas.

As the Consultant’s career progresses, he or she will assume a larger role in the management of projects and client relationships, development of new opportunities for clinical consulting services and guiding other Consultants and the client's staff in developing alternative solutions and approaches to complicated issues.

 

Candidate Qualifications

  • Advanced clinical degree or professional certification (e.g. RN, PharmD etc.)  required.   Clinical informatics qualifications and advanced business degree e.g. MHA, MPA, MBA preferred.
  • More than 5 years of experience in a health care provider setting or other related environment. Experience with management of direct patient care functions and processes highly preferred.
  • Prior consulting experience in health care setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare technology marketplace and product-specific knowledge is a plus.
  • Distinctive academic performance and leadership experience.
  • Energetic and passionate about serving clients, continual learning, professionalism and personal resilience.
  • Keen problem-solving skills and demonstrated quantitative analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive literacy with spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Demonstrated experience in speaking or writing on advanced clinical information systems/clinical informatics desired.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. with unlimited work authorization.

Location and Travel
Consultants are assigned to our Atlanta or New York offices. Travel to client sites averages up to 50 percent of business days.
